Reach Worldwide was birthed out of a need to eradicate hunger due to poverty. One night Br. Mathew Kuruvilla (Tangu Brother) came across a tragic incident of a businessman who due to huge debts had to sell his company and began working for Rs. 150 a day in the same company he once owned. Every night after his work, the money lenders would snatch away his daily wages as interest for his loans. The night when he met Tangu Brother he said that he could no longer bear the sight of his children crying “Papa we are hungry”. Next morning to his shock and surprise Tangu Brother learnt that this man had committed suicide. Tangu Brother said to himself “how can I preach the gospel when people are dying of hunger in front of me”. That very day Tangu Brother took a stand that he would do whatever it takes to prevent death due to hunger wherever he could beginning from the city of Kottayam, Kerala. Today this programme has reached as far as London, England.
